3. Personal Biography
You are able to create a Personal Biography Tree in NodeMind.
Peculiarities of NodeMind:
- fast creating and modifying of schemes;
- storage of high-volumed information in the different map objects;
- attachment of files and hyperlinks to each object;
- making screenshots of a tree as .jpg files;
- printing of map parts;
- comfortable export/import of data to be interchanged among people;
- a lot of possibilities available for visualization of any information.
Why NodeMind maps are better than paper? Most people used to keep biography on paper or in ordinary text editor therefore they have no possibility to visualize past events.
Standard biography often contains the following data:
1. author’s name;
2. date of birth;
3. place of birth;
4. birth rank;
5. information about parents;
6. education and diploma;
7. work experience;
8. last job or education;
9. awards;
10. family status;
11. passport data;
12. home address and phone number.
The Autobiography Creation Date is usually placed below the text part.
Creation of Personal Biography in NodeMind 2.0 is focused on other aspects.
Many psychological schools used to apply in their work the precise life analysis. It is essential in determination of current problems sources. When analysing and determining past mistakes, a person starts to breathe freely and sets right priorities.
You are able to search in past not mistakes only, but the priorities as well. It is better to search for them in the happiest and the most harmonised past.
For instance, in the process of managing your business you face upon a task 'to draft a plan for the project' (see 'Get your things done(GTD) in NodeMind'). You have to set a goal at the fist stage of planning process. You have to answer the question 'Why?'. This question is a profound and deep one that touches upon your past experience. Such answers as 'because I WANT to gain something' or ‘I LIKE it' etc are indefinite and ambiguous answers. They cannot provide a strong motivational support in the project working process. The answer shall be valid and accurate stating exactly your desire and its reason.
Thus, planning of any task shall be based on your positive past experience. Of course, very often people carry out tasks not because the 'want something', but because they 'don’t'. 'Something' is not happened under the carefully drafted plan that is the best outcome for that very moment. However, this kind of planning is rather pessimistic and it is difficult to gain any positive results for personal development.
I do consider that positive past moments as well as moments that can help you in setting priorities and answering the question 'Why?' shall be presented in your review system sight.
Planning itself is a very labor-intensive process. If you are going to spend a lot of time on searching a required experience in order to answer the question 'Why?', the planning process can be dragged out or become unsuccessful. Some past moments can be forgotten or distorted. Therefore prior to planning, it is better to create in NodeMind 2.0 a separate map of personal biography. It is desirable to review your early life in detail. If necessary, you are able to modify and amend this map at any time.
You may face upon several problems before you star creating your map of personal biography.
These problems are as follows:
1. No desire to rake up the past
No desire to rake up the past and your new plans look like 'no course sailing'. What is the best way to determine perfect desires and answer the question 'Why should I carry out this task?' if you do not have any specific experience? You may take other people experience as a base and decide that those people were happy at that very moment. You may decide that 'if he is happy as he has yacht at the cost of USD 5,000,000.00 then I will be happy as soon as I have the same yacht'. Is it really true? Rake up your past. Find your true happy and harmonised moments. Define particular features that helped you to be happy. These very features shall become your priorities in answering the question 'Why should I carry out this task?'.
2. I think that my values have changed
Perhaps, upon changing of life values, features that helped you to be happy earlier do not make you happy any more. Yes, it is really possible. However, the main reason for creating the map of personal biography is not just reaching the required state, but determining this very state. It is very important to know what do you really want, and what do you really don’t want. These are general categories that cannot be changed greatly in the course of life (i.e. states of relaxation, joy, safety, confidence etc).
3. I suppose that my experience is lacking many useful things that I don’t even know
It is necessary to set a goal at the first planning stage and then answer the question 'Why should I carry out this task?'. Of course, there are a lot of things that your experience is lacking that really can make you feel happy. But you have to determine such things only on the third planning stage called 'brainstorming' (i.e. at this stage you generate ideas on the basis of personal and other people experience). Whereas the first stage of setting a goal and answering the question 'Why?' mean general approach. In case if you do not use your personal experience and rely on other people one or draw a bow at a venture hoping to receive what you want, you may lose your resources and time. Moreover, you gain negative experience that can put you off doing anything else. Why spend time on planning at all?
